Der Soziologe Jürgen Schupp begrüßt das Karlsruher Urteil. Die Ungleichbehandlung von unter 25-Jährigen müsse allerdings noch vom Gesetzgeber bereinigt werden.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
