Ältere Arbeitslose haben es schwerer als jüngere, eine neue Stelle zu finden. Das liegt auch daran, dass Unternehmen ihnen weniger zutrauen. Für Betroffene kann der Bewerbungsmarathon zur Qual werden.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
