Solidarität und Eigenverantwortung neu ausbalancieren

Das Bundeskabinett hat den Gesetzentwurf zur Umgestaltung der Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende beschlossen. Mit dem Gesetz soll das Verhältnis zwischen Solidarität und Eigenverantwortung im Zweiten Buch Sozialgesetzbuch neu ausbalanciert werden.

Das Schicksal teilt ungerecht aus; und es gleicht die Ungerechtigkeiten nicht immer aus. Hier hat der Sozialstaat seine Aufgabe. Er sorgt dafür, dass der Mensch reale, nicht nur formale Chancen hat. …

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
