Im Rahmen ihrer Sommertour 2025 war Dr. Claudia Schilling, Senatorin für Arbeit, Soziales, Jugend und Integration in den vergangenen beiden Wochen in zahlreichen Stadtteilen und Quartieren in Bremen und Bremerhaven unterwegs.

Das Schicksal teilt ungerecht aus; und es gleicht die Ungerechtigkeiten nicht immer aus. Hier hat der Sozialstaat seine Aufgabe. Er sorgt dafür, dass der Mensch reale, nicht nur formale Chancen hat. …

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
