Der Bundestag befasst sich am Mittwoch, 22. April 2020, erstmalig mit einem Antrag der Fraktion Die Linke mit
dem Titel „Kurzarbeitergeld erhöhen – Kosten der Krise nicht einseitig Beschäftigten zumuten“.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
