Die Partei DIE LINKE hatein umfassendes Konzept zur Reform des Sozialstaats vorgelegt. Darin fordert sie unter anderem eine Erhöhung des Rentenniveaus und eine Mindestrente von 1200 Euro im Monat sowie die Rücknahme der Rente mit 67.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
