Deutschland steckt im Abschwung – aber Angst vor dem Jobverlust hat kaum jemand, wie eine Umfrage für den SPIEGEL zeigt. Bei Digitalisierung und E-Mobilität sehen die Bürger Chancen und Risiken in der Waage.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
