Warum Hartz IV nicht bleiben darf, wie es ist

Hartz IV ist Kampfbegriff, Hassobjekt, Fetisch – und braucht dringend Korrekturen, schreibt die IG Metall. In einer Arbeitswelt, die sich rasend schnell wandelt, muss der Sozialstaat sein zentrales Versprechen erneuern: Wer fällt, wird aufgefangen.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
