20 Millionen Stimmen fordern einen gerechten Sozialstaat

Der Paritätischer Gesamtverband ist eine von 14 Organisationen im neuen Sozialstaatbündnis, das die Schieflage in der politischen Debatte kritisiert. Umfrage belegt: Breite Mehrheit der Bevölkerung wünscht sich einen leistungsfähigen Sozialstaat.

Das Schicksal teilt ungerecht aus; und es gleicht die Ungerechtigkeiten nicht immer aus. Hier hat der Sozialstaat seine Aufgabe. Er sorgt dafür, dass der Mensch reale, nicht nur formale Chancen hat. …

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
