Dem CDU-Generalsekretär Carsten Linnemann geht die neue Grundsicherung nicht weit genug. Er plädiert für stärkere Arbeitsanreize. Außerdem fordert er Änderungen bei der Einkommensteuer.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
