Rund 9.000 Menschen sind in Bremerhaven nach aktuellen Zahlen arbeitslos. Konjunkturkrisen und Zollpolitik verschärfen die Lage. Hoffnungen liegen auf Hafeninvestitionen.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
