Wer sind die Menschen im Bürgergeld?

Neue Regeln mit neuer Grundsicherung: Heute debattiert erstmals der Bundestag über die geplante Reform des Bürgergeldes. Drei Menschen, die davon leben müssen, berichten von ihren Erfahrungen und Sorgen.

Der eine kriegt einen klugen Kopf, der andere ein schwaches Herz. Der eine ist sein Leben lang gesund, der andere wird mit einer schweren Behinderung geboren. Die Natur ist ein Gerechtigkeitsrisiko. …

Das Schicksal teilt ungerecht aus; und es gleicht die Ungerechtigkeiten nicht immer aus. Hier hat der Sozialstaat seine Aufgabe. Er sorgt dafür, dass der Mensch reale, nicht nur formale Chancen hat. …

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
