„Haben das Herzstück des Bürgergelds durchgesetzt“

Die Bundesregierung will das Bürgergeld durch eine „neue Grundsicherung“ ersetzen. Besonders an der SPD wird deshalb Kritik geübt. Bei einer digitalen Mitgliederkonferenz hat SPD-Parteichefin Bärbel Bas nun mit einigen Gerüchten aufgeräumt.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
