Die Empfehlung der Mindestlohnkommission, den Mindestlohn in Deutschland bis 2027 schrittweise auf 14,60 Euro zu erhöhen, stößt auf ein geteiltes Echo. Es reicht von Lob und Anerkennung, über Kritik bis hin zu warnenden Stimmen.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
