Die Diskussion ist nicht neu: Ist das Bürgergeld zu hoch? Zuletzt empörte sich Boris Palmer über einen Bürgergeldbescheid. Wie viel Geld kann man vom Staat tatsächlich erhalten?

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
