Weiterbildung kann helfen den Strukturwandel auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zu bewältigen. Dies gelingt aber nur, wenn Weiterbildung zielgerichtet, bedarfsorientiert und vor allem praxistauglich gestaltet und umgesetzt wird.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
