Bedarf es schärferer Leistungsminderungen beim Bürgergeld?

Die Sanktionen im Bürgergeld sind viel zu stark abgemildert worden, ist in der öffentlichen Debatte immer wieder zu hören. Forschungsergebnisse zeigen: Sanktionen wirken, sind aber kein Allheilmittel. Und sie haben auch nicht intendierte Wirkungen.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
