Abschaffung des Bürgergelds? Ökonom skizziert notwendige Reform

Marcel Fratzscher, Präsident des Deutschen Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW), kritisiert die laufende Bürgergeld-Debatte. Bei einer Bürgergeld-Reform sollten nicht Arbeitspflicht und Sanktionen im Fokus stehen. Diese könnten mehr schaden.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
