Arbeitskräftemangel gilt zusehends als die größte Bedrohung unseres Wohlstands. Dabei kann eine Wirtschaft auch gut funktionieren, wenn nicht stetig billige Arbeitskräfte nachkommen. Die Umstellung schafft Verlierer und viele Gewinner

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
