Die CDU verabschiedet einen Beschluss zum „Bürgergeld“, in dem es auch darum geht, „Totalverweigerern“ die Leistungen zu streichen. Eine Anfrage bei der Arbeitsagentur zeigt: Das betrifft nur wenige Menschen.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
