In den 12 Monaten von Dezember 2022 bis November 2023 wurden von der Bundesagentur für Arbeit für das beitragsfinanzierte Arbeitslosengeld (SGB III) insgesamt 18,554 Milliarden Euro ausgegeben.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
