Die Untersuchung der WSI-Forscher Dr. Florian Blank und Dr. Wolfram Brehmer stützt sich auf eine repräsentative Befragung unter knapp 5000 abhängig Beschäftigten und eine weitere Umfrage unter gut 3600 Betriebs- und Personalräten

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
