12 Euro Mindestlohn: eine lange überfällige Verbesserung für Millionen Beschäftigte

Als der Mindestlohn im Jahr 2015 eingeführt wurde, geschah dies auf einem überaus vorsichtigen Niveau. Mit der geplanten Erhöhung auf 12 Euro kommt Deutschland nun an den EU-Richtwert von 60 Prozent des Medianlohns heran.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
