Mindestlohn von 12 Euro: Risiken für Beschäftigung steigen, Armut sinkt kaum

Dr. Dominik Groll, Arbeitsmarktexperte am Kiel Institut für Weltwirtschaft (IfW Kiel), kommentiert die geplante Erhöhung des Mindestlohns in Deutschland auf 12 Euro je Stunde, die voraussichtlich heute im Bundeskabinett beschlossen werden soll.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
