EU-Studie: Arbeitslosigkeit in der Industrie hauptsächlich Folge von Produktivitätsgewinnen

Innerhalb der letzten 20 Jahre spielten Zugewinne in der Produktivität eine größere Rolle bei Jobverlusten in der europäischen Industrie, als der Prozess der Deindustrialisierung.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
