„Ein Jobverlust wird oft als sozialer Abstieg empfunden“

In einer neuen IAB-Studie haben Stefanie Gundert und Laura Pohlan untersucht, welche Folgen ein Arbeitsplatzverlust für die gesellschaftliche Teilhabe der Betroffenen hat. Die Redaktion des IAB-Forum hat bei den beiden Autorinnen nachgefragt.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
