Armut im Land Bremen 2020

Ende 2020 benötigten 119.255 Menschen im Land Bremen finanzielle Unterstützung vom Staat (18 Prozent). Die Anzahl der Leistungsbeziehenden insgesamt bleibt gegenüber 2019 auf hohem Niveau.

Demokratie und Sozialstaat gehören zusammen. Die Bürger in einer Demokratie brauchen Ausbildung und Auskommen, sie brauchen eine leidlich gesicherte Existenz. Das Leben wird weiterhin ungerecht beginnen und es wird ungerecht enden. Dass es dazwischen einigermaßen gerecht zugeht – dafür gibt es den Sozialstaat.“
